THE CHALLENGE: Unify And Elevate
The North Face has retail locations across the globe serving different channels and different communities.
A prototype store was designed to create a fresh unified look for the brand’s retail presence.
Our task was to take the findings from this prototype store and translate them into a retail system that spans several store types. Creating not only a unified look, but a unified experience across the brand’s retail presence.

5th Ave.
New York
Adapt and Augment
The 5th Ave. location was a unique challenge in that its historic status necessitated creative thinking in how to affect the space without any permanent attachments or architectural changes.

CASH WRAP
The cash wrap is designed to feel like a landmark in the store. The drop ceiling creates a more intimate space where customers can engage with the brand.
The service area always faces the entrance of the store so it's the first thing customers see.

Cherry Hill
New Jersey
Plug and Play
This location served partly as a proof of concept.
With the system designed, Cherry Hill was an
example of a fairly typical retail space where
the system could be proofed.

ARTFUL MOMENTS
The North Face is a brand with a lot of history and a lot of stories to tell. Unique artful moments are one of the ways we try to land this rich messaging with the consumer.
These sketches are a few interesting outtakes.

SOHO
New York
Blank Slate
SOHO was intended as the pinnacle expression. The space was largely a blank slate with a lot of space that allowed the team to develop systems in an idealized environment and set precedents for future locations.
